Holmside is the name of a street as well as a house, so there may be some confusion.
Holmside Villa was built in 1884 as seen in this advert from the Ayr Observer of 6 January 1885

William Dalgliesh the first Provost of Cumnock Burgh woollen manufacturer lived in in Holmside in 1881 aged 56 maybe not in this house though.

Solicitor Archibald Brakenridge lived at Holmside from about 1920 until his death in 1933
