The Reverend Andrew Taylor moved to 3 Barrhill Terrace from Edinburgh with his sons, Charles and Andrew, in 1901. He was 74 years old and had lost his wife three years previously. A retired minister of the Established Church he had, for many years, held the position of Lecturer to the Church of Scotland Training College, Edinburgh. The Rev. Taylor died in 1912, his residence being Woodburn, 3 Barrhill Terrace, Cumnock.

His sons, Charles and Andrew, had moved to Cumnock to work with George McCartney & Co., millwrights and engineers at their Burnside Engineering Works which was situated next to Greenholm. According to the Valuation Roll for 1905 it was still owned by engineers William Cowan and Alexander Parker. By the 1915 Valuation Roll the owners were Charles and Andrew Taylor. The brothers operated their business successfully until 1933 when a trade recession forced them to close.

Andrew remained in 3 Barrhill Terrace, now named Clach-lan and died there in 1951. Charles served a total of eighteen years on the Town Council and served as Cumnock's 15th Provost from 1922-1925. He didn't reside at 3 Barrhill Terrace when he arrived in Cumnock. He lived at Burnside House  next to his Engineering Works and died in 1963 at Buenavista, 104 Barrhill Road, Cumnock.
